Firstly, I wrote a little thing on my favourite accordionist from LA who sings about ice cream, Ema and the Ghosts, for For Folk’s Sake. It’s up on their tasty website now, clicky clicky

Secondly, The Leisure Society liked my comic and are using it on their Myspace as a background. You’d be wise to head to the Myspace anyway and listen to their beautiful songs. Here it is. Listen to Love’s Enormous Wings… it’s wonderful. It’s 2 weeks until the Scala show with Loney Dear, get your tickets now as I should think it’ll sell out.

Another venue to tick off my ‘venues I’ve not been to yet’ list. The lighting was a bit pyscho and tricky to deal with. I was standing with Bobbles and his 5D mark II to my left and some other photographer on my right with a 5d. I’m not in the 5d club. BOO. Here are some crazily colourful pictures, I couldn’t get any nice white balances so I just let them be weird. I guess I could have made them black and white, but I like these colours.

OH MY GOODNESS. So much love for Pure Groove and their instores they’re arranging right now.

7th May – Au Revoir Simone @ Pure Groove.

SO! How AMAZING is that!?!? I see Au Revoir Simone on the 6th at Bush Hall. Then Bishop Allen lunchtime instore on the 7th. Then Au Revoir Simone instore in the evening. Then Bishop Allen again at Bardens in the evening. It’s too good to be true. Pinch me!  I really think I am dreaming. Pure Groove Facebook proves I am not delusional.

This sounds interesting, from Pure Groove:

We’ve just received a mail from Sam aka Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly.

Have a read. I imagine a few of you might want to get up early tomorrow and come down.

It all starts at 8.50am

Hi

As the world watches central london tomorrow, the swell of public unrest with the current climate is impossible to ignore. Various factions are converging tomorrow to lobby the g20 and to provide a graphic reminder of how we have been let down by our world leaders and how we are failing our commitments to fighting poverty and climate change.

Tomorrow morning is an opportunity for music fans and musicians to have a breakfast meet up before the protest.

Event hosted by the fantastic Tiernan Douieb

Live music will be provided by

Kate Nash
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly
Natty
Kieran Leonard and many more.

+ Speakers from Oxfam and Love Music Hate Racism.

We’re aiming to meet at Puregroove Record Shop at West Smithfields (Faringdon tube) at 8:50 with everything kicking off between 9-10, With the plan to join the protest and converge a the bank of England at 12 noon, where Billy Bragg will be performing.

This is a non violent/militant event, set up as a friendly meeting point before the days forthcoming protests.

Hope to see you there.

Sam Duckworth

I have to say I’m not a fan of any of those artists, but this whole thing is screaming photo ops at me. I would have to get the morning off work though. I’ll decide about this later.

My photos from Yes Way! are up on FACT Magazine’s online gallery. Clicky clicky.

I was trying to think of a band that I can post about other than Wildbirds & Peacedrums. I stared thinking about my favourite Swedish bands… which led me back to Wildbirds & Peacedrums. Then I thought about some others: Frida, Ane Brun, Loney Dear… and I’m From Barcelona. I don’t post about I’m From Barcelona much at all but I have to say that they are one of the most fun bands you could see. At the Scala show they had a million balloons and a enough confetti to drown in. It was so much fun! I cleaned my room today and I found some confetti from the show under my bed. That show was 4 months ago now.

Here is a video Bobbles filmed at the show. John, Adam and I get some brief camera time.

62 plays on my ipod. 7 minutes 39 seconds long. 459 seconds of plays. 459 x 62 = 28,458 seconds worth of My Heart. 28, 458 / 60 = 474.3 minutes of My Heart. 474.3 / 60 = 7.9 hours of My Heart. Most of these plays are since the show at the Social. That’s practically 8 hours worth of listening to My Heart non stop. I’m listening now so it’ll be 63 plays which will equate to 8 hours worth of My Heart. I should think it’ll get alot more plays in the next few weeks.

I checked my bank balance yesterday. Not favorable. It was not favorable AT ALL. However, I am owed some monies for a photo and £55 in travel expenses sooooooo I conclude I must go to Brighton.

I bought a ticket. I couldn’t help myself(!!!!). This is what My Heart does to me.

Today was such a doodle fest.

I have no monies. Let me you draw you things in exchange for gig tickets.

Tally Ho! and Yes Way! last Saturday. BIG.

Chew Lips last Monday. My perception of time is so warped, Chew Lips feels like about 3 weeks ago. Weird. BIG.

I wonder who reads my comics. It’s quite a mystery. Mysteries are fun…

WHY IS IT NOT NEXT TUESDAY YET!?!? I wish I could calm down a bit when writing about WB&PD but shouty caps is the only way  I can try and convey my excitement. I love this band. I am being crazy and considering going down to Brighton to watch them on Wednesday. This is crazy because I’m running low on the monies and can’t really afford it, but I looove them. Train and ticket will come in just under £20. I’ll decide about it tomorrow. In fact, I’m going out now to check my bank balance.

Can’t get enough of this band.
