Woah this is incredible. Holly Miranda covering Etta James’ I’d Rather Go Blind.

Her voice has so much soul. And I love Timmy’s guitar parts. LOVE.

Holly Miranda! Yes! The part where the drums come in and the crash of instruments gives me chills:

They are amazing. I can’t wait for these shows:

Holly Miranda at Westminster Library 28/04

Holly Miranda at The Boderline 29/04

Dale and Arabella are In Cakes. Dale and Arabella are my friends who bake. Born to bake. They made a blog.

If you’ve ever been to a show I set up you may have noticed some particularly fine cupcakes in the vicinity, available for the sophisticated price of £0.00. Yes, that’s right: FREE CAKE. The main perpetrators behind this benevolent monstrosity are Arabella and Dale. Free cupcakes are dangerous, especially when they’re as tasty as Dalabella’s cupcakes. But who doesn’t love a bit of danger!?

So, perhaps swing by Darwin Deez at the Black Heart (there’ll be 10 or so tickets on the door) and sample some cupcake goodness. I have a feeling the cakes are going to be really amazing at that show. Here are some photos:

I’m hungry/miss the shows where She Keeps Bees and Scary Mansion were there.

I don’t like The Garage. It’s primary defense, whenever conversing upon my dislike of it, is: ‘it has good sound’. Alas, not tonight, with squeaks, skwarks and feedback a plenty. Nonetheless Mariner’s Children and Dan Michaelson did  a fine job of opening the show.

It must be about the 43905239090218th time I’ve seen Peggy Sue (or the 8th perhaps) but I was still pretty happy to be seeing their album launch show. Phantoms and Other Fossils is out via Witchita and it’s a wonderful record with some really brilliant moments. Olly is a fantastic drummer and Katy and Rosa are absolutely brilliant. What I love about them vocally is that they aren’t afraid to really belt out their vocal parts, right at the top of their lungs. I love that. They were totally besides themselves to be playing; you could tell they were so happy. The crowd loved it and it was very sweet and endearing.

Their set went down a treat and they came back for an encore, joined by Mariner’s Children and Dan Michaelson. Lovely indeed.

Here are some people or things that I think are related to this blog that I have thought about today and love. And I think you should check them out and love them too!

More over HERE.

I miss Scary Mansion. I think they are my favourite band. SEE:

Here they do On My Mind and Captain:

I love Leah’s voice. That version of On My Mind is so brilliant. Brad’s bass parts are brilliant. And look how fun Ben’s drumming is. It’s brilliant. That song kills me. I remember when I first heard it. I loved it so much that I had to ration how many times I’d listen to it, because I’d fall into the trap of just sitting there listening to it on repeat, and I didn’t want to overdose on it. I’ve listened to it over a hundred times now and I’m still pretty far from getting tired of it. Captain is next, after On My Mind. It’s pretty rocking.

Also, the live version of I Dumped My Mind is so good:

Ahhhh Scary Mansion are wonderful. I can’t wait to have them around again.

This album by Sam Amdion is really lovely:

He has a warm and soft voice and the arrangements are beautiful. The album also features contributions from Beth Orton and Nico Muhly.

Listen to it here.

The nice people at Londonist put my map on their website. See here.

The map got like 3000 views on Flickr in a day. Nuts! Lots of nice people have been asking if they can buy it. Would you like to buy one? If you would please email me and I will go to the shops soon and have some printed.

I really like drawing maps. I remember when I drew that London map. It was almost a year ago. I had the option of revising for my exams or drawing a map, for no real reason other than I like drawing maps. I chose to draw the map, obviously. Map fun!
