On Wednesday I went to The Borderline to see Common Prayer and also The Silent League.

I really dig Common Prayer’s album “There Is A Mountain” and was excited to hear them perform the songs live. They played as a trio consisting of Jason and Alex plus violinist Karen. It was a pretty stripped back set with no tricks or magic, just great songs. Jason has a really strong voice and they sounded very lovely. Listen to them here.
Jason’s brother, Justin, has a band called The Silent League. It’s currently made up of Justin, a string trio, and the band Maps. Unfortunately the chap from Maps who was in charge of the backing tracks had some issues with his Macbook and got the rainbow wheel of terror repeatedly, which meant a lot of the set was spent waiting and trying to figure out which songs they could still play. They soldiered on and the bits they did sounded marvelous and I really look forward to seeing them again, hopefully with less technical hitches.
A lovely show! The Silent League play Saturday at Truck fest and Common Prayer play Sunday, as well as Shh! in London on August 1st.
Nice to see enthusiasm getting a person somewhere. Not far, it has to be said, since any kind of discernible talent seems to be desperately missing. Still…
Hello, your IP address tells me you that you are the same lovely chap who left that comment http://www.anikainlondon.com/2010/05/15/review-warpaint-at-the-luminaire/ and that one http://www.anikainlondon.com/2010/05/15/wildbirds-peacedrums-bleed-like/ You really need to find something better to do than read a blog you don’t like. SERIOUSLY!
Go Anika!
I am jealous of people that do things and I want to pull them down. I am an utter knob. It hasn’t occurred to me to smile and use the fact that someone has the balls to do something as inspiration to do something myself. It might one day.
In the interests of full disclosure (not wanting to hide behind a pseudonym) I am Howard Monk. I have a blog at howardmonk.wordpress.com if anyone wants to rip me apart away from here!
Don’t mind him, Anika. We love ya!
WOW. How is someone THAT bitter. Get something better to do dickhead.

think that maybe you don’t need to worry so much about comments like that, Anika. they seem very childish.
