From Lower Dens:

Our guitarist, and sometimes drummer, Will Adams, has decided to leave the band, due to exhaustion. As a result we are very sorry to announce the cancellation of some of our upcoming shows: http://www.lowerdens.com/ . Will’s gonna be sorely missed, and we’re not sure yet exactly what that will mean for the future of our band, but there will be one.

Uh oh. I love Lower Dens. This is sad.

Here is a video I filmed at SXSW but think I forgot to post:

Great, great band.

I have a nice memory of Jules playing this song to meĀ  from her ipod on my lunch break at work. She also played a bit of it at the Westminster Library show in February:

I can’t wait for the next Sea of Bees album.

Keep your eyes wide and peeled for some new Sea of Bees shows this summer… YES!!!!

Flock of Dimes is Jenn Wasner’s ‘vanity project of questionable skill and intent’.

Hear a song and read an interview here.

Sounds like a pretty sweet vanity project to me. Song is below as well:

Flock of Dimes – Prison Bride by friendsrecords

Look forward to hearing more.

Good for the sun.

Below are more videos from the Jools show we went to watch last week.

Sim Sala Bim -

Bedouin Dress -

And the band’s Maida Vale session is here. They play songs from the new album as well as ‘Your Protector’ and ‘Mykonos’.

This video is really cool:

I want to see Glasser again. Still kinda bummed I missed out at SXSW.

A couple of months ago I bought myself a new ipod, because my old one was dying and I didn’t want to get to the point where it died and I’d have nothing. I transferred everything over (and left some off). There’s still loads that I’ve not listened to on this new ipod. I was just remembering Tiny Vipers.

I like this video of Jesy playing on some steps. The sound is perfect. The setup it’s so simple but it’s wonderful because of it:

Pretty.

Lovely video of Jules and Amber playing ‘Wizbot’ in somebody’s flat somewhere.

I miss them and can’t wait for them to be back.

When I went to SXSW my friend Katie introduced me to her friends Rupert and Sarah….

Rupert has a record shop called Drift. It is in Totnes, Devon. If you are in the area you should probably visit; and if you’re not in the area you can visit the shop online. Album of the week is Tune-Yards’ new one ‘w h o k i l l’ which I definitely definitely definitely recommend too.

Yesterday I went with work to go watch Fleet Foxes play on Jools Holland. We had got the ‘Helplessness Blues’ CDs in the office earlier in the day. They smell really nice.

The band were incredible. It was a treat to hear the new songs live- you can tune in on Friday night to watch the full show. Going into the telly world is pretty weird. There were lots of lights and cameras and a bit of action [via people jogging around with cables].

Explosions In The Sky ‘Take Care, Take Care, Take Care’ album playback at the Peter Harrison Planetarium, Greenwich

So, about 5 weeks ago we were in a meeting at work and Mark from Bella Union came up with the idea of doing an album playback at the Planetarium for EITS. I tried getting in touch with the planetarium before SXSW and heard nothing back. I rang and got in touch again when I got home and heard nothing back until about a week and a half ago. We got all cogs in motion and set up this one off, special event…

We invited friends and fans who pre-orderd the album to join us for a very special album playback inside the planetarium up at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. The observatory is on a giant hill and overlooks the whole of London. The view is spectacular. I got up there early and had a test screening. The guests arrived and we all watched it again together. There’s something to be said for listening to albums as a group. It was a really special event, and really cool to put the music in that context. I’m pretty sure everyone there won’t forget that evening.

Then afterward we went and stood at the top of the hill and looked at London at dusk. So pretty.

‘Take Care, Take Care, Take Care’ is out now- pick it up from the Bella shop.
