Hi guys!

I have had a book of my comics and drawings published by the lovely Something In Construction (the record label that brings you Memory Tapes, Loney Dear and Air France).

It is titled, surprisingly, Anika In London and is a selection of comics and drawings from my first two years in London; 2008-2010.

We are holding a book launch at Strongrooms on April 12th from 7pm. There will be free cakes and drinks, live music and DJs.

My wonderful friends Peggy Sue and Laura Hocking will play sets, and my longtime pals TLOBF and Wears The Trousers are DJing. And my cakey friends Dalabella are making cake. It is free to come and you can RSVP here if you fancy.

The book will be available to buy at the launch and online after. There are 200 available to purchase. It also comes with a mix CD featuring some pals of mine. This is the tracklist:

1. She Keeps Bees – Ribbon
2. The Antlers – Sylvia (An Introduction)
3. Parenthetical Girls – The Weight She Fell Under
4. Darwin Deez – Bomb Song
5. Sea of Bees – Wizbot
6. Creaky Boards – Brooklyn
7. Dark Dark Dark – Celebrate
8. Wood Pigeon – Home As A Romanticized Concept
9. Common Prayer – Us Vs Them
10. Cryptacize – Blue Tears
11. Tasseomancy – Healthy Hands
12. Scary Mansion – Go To Hell
13. Wildbirds & Peacedrums – My Heart

Here is a picture I took of my copies on my (post SXSW apocalyptically messy) floor:

Any questions about it just drop me a line. Thanks for your interest!

Love, Anika.

On the way to Texas I decided I had time to catch up with comics. On the way back from Texas I wanted to draw about SXSW but I was so sleepy that I did not manage it. Hopefully I’ll be able to draw them soon though. This week I hope.

Anyway, here are comix:

Caitlin at The Barfly

This is a day when I had a cold and went with Katy and Paul to see Caitlin play at Barfy Barfly.

SEE

Sharon Van Etten with Laura

Here is the day I went to see Sharon play, and me and Laura got tea and sammiches.

SEE

Tu Fawning

I went to see Tu Fawning at the OBL with Alan and Paul, and Jen and I planned our wedding at lunch (cos we were getting married).

SEE

Sea of Bees at The Gallery Cafe

Ah this was a lovely time. That show made me so happy.Me and Jules did heavy lifting, Jules played an amazing set, then Rosa and Katy commented on my handshake.

SEE

Sea of Bees at Westminster Reference Library

I think this show was a definition of success. So wonderful and perfect.

SEE

SXSW SOON.

I am doing weekly Alt-Pop profiles for my friends TLOBF.

Week one: Tyler, The Creator

My map of London is going to go in the Museum of London:

http://www.museumoflondon.org.uk/English/EventsExhibitions/Special/HanddrawnLondon.htm

If it was not such a lowbrow map this would definitely be a highbrow thing. Regardless, still pretty swit-swoo to have a map in a museum! Cool!

I have been catching up with comics, you can see them in this folder here.

These comics in this new book involve a lot of swanning about and eating with my friends. In my old book I didn’t have any friends yet so that involved a lot of hanging out by myself.

WHO KNOWS what the deal will be in book 3??! And book 4?!!?

Also. Here is a letter I wrote to Rihanna:

My friend Jen has a radio show which she is using to promote her Face Lol agenda.

Here is my face lol:

“Face LOLing is good for your awesomeness!!!” – see.

A comic.

Stupid Aunt Bessie

See.

… in which we go to the Museum of Everything, get lost, request ‘Wuthering Heights’ at The Breakfast Club, only for it to be turned off because we got too excited and started singing a bit loud.
