Once December starts I will try to reel off a few ‘best of 2008′ lists each week. I was just thinking about what good movies came out this year. Does anyone know any? The only movies released this year that I remember watching are There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men. Last year all I remember is the Darjeeling Limited and I’m Not There, and Juno (which I thought was ok but really very overrated). There’s alot of buzz around this new Twilight movie. It shares it’s name with one of my favourite Elliott Smith songs. Judging from the trailer, it looks like it’s about some girl that meets a vampire and they fall in love blah blah blah… it looks really cheesy. No offence to anyone who likes that type of thing (I myself am partial to some cheese every now and again).  If I were to watch Twilight I think it would suck the will to live from me. Ba dum shh.

Vampire movies for people who don’t want to watch Twilight:

Did you know you can watch Nosferatu for free on Google Video? I haven’t watched it in ages but I seem to remember it being great.

The Lost Boys is so awesome! It doesn’t take itself seriously and is fun all the way through. This is my favourite vampire movie ever.

Interview With The Vampire with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise does take itself seriously. It’s still good though.

30 Days of Night. I just remembered about this movie. Even though it has a pretty predictable plot and doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel, I thought it was nicely done and was quite enjoyable. I thought the vampires looked pretty cool too, and there was a nice amount of gore.

There’s a Louis Theroux documentary on tomorrow. I don’t have a tv, so I’ll have to wait a while then watch it on iplayer. Louis Theroux is one of the few reasons why it’s worth owning a tv.
